BCI is the major shareholder in both TimberWest and Island Timberlands, which together own most of the forested land on the east coast of Vancouver Island from Victoria to Campbell River. Mosaic Forest Management manages forest operations for these two companies.
If you are a BC or federal public servant, there's a very good chance your pension is helping to fund poor forestry practices. That is, your pension is fuelling climate change, continuing logging of old growth, and contributing to water shortage and quality issues on the east coast of Vancouver Island!
If BCI puts pressure on TimberWest/Island Timberlands/Mosaic to log better, these companies would have to comply. But pension holders must put pressure on BCI first.
